About this opportunity
-Purpose. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) solicits grant applications from qualified investigators to conduct ancillary studies of selected ongoing major clinical research studies, including clinical trials, epidemiological studies and disease databases, supported by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, National Institutes of Health (NIH). The objective is to introduce NIDDK-oriented ancillary studies into either NIDDK or NHLBI-funded parent studies, or NHLBI-oriented ancillary studies into NIDDK-funded parent studies. -Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the NIH Research Project Grant R01) award mechanism. -Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. Because the nature and scope of the proposed research will vary from application to application, it is anticipated that the size and duration of each award will also vary. The total amount awarded and the number of awards will depend upon the number, quality, duration, and costs of the applications received.
