About this opportunity
This project engages young adults as archeological technicians at Joshua Tree National Park to assist with archeological survey, monitoring, site recording, documentation, and reporting for archeological activities in a collaborate effort with NPS professional archeologists. The Archeology Program at Joshua Tree National Park regularly conducts activities pursuant to what are commonly referred to as Sections 106 and 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act (formerly 16 U.S.C. 470 et seq.; now 54 U.S.C. 300101) and generally known as compliance and inventory, respectively. The project goal is to provide training and developmental experience to young adults by having them assist the park with compliance related clearance surveys and assessments, and inventory surveys to document and record archeological resources in previously unstudied areas of the park. The Recipient, GBI, will recruit young adults who will work alongside NPS professional archeologists and archeological technicians to help the park meet its responsibilities under the National Historic Preservation Act.
