About this opportunity

The teams will work for four weeks working on a variety of invasive plant removal at the following subunits of the George Washington Memorial Parkway: Roaches Run Waterfowl Sanctuary, Theodore Roosevelt Island National Memorial, Dyke Marsh Nature Preserve, and Great Falls National Park. The team will work daily and directly with park staff from each NPS unit who have previously identified invasive plant populations to target and control at selected sites within Invasive plant control will use integrated pest management to choose the best treatment option however most work will consist of removing invasive shrubs (such as Lonicera mockii) from natural and cultural areas using mechanical tools (handsaws, chainsaws, etc) and chemical herbicide treatment. The team will also monitor and retreat previously restored areas and identify and map new problem areas.
